I am Trayvon…

March 26th, 2012 / No Comments » / by LadySway

I am Trayvon..There are days that I too a 46 year old black woman can be found wearing a hoodie. I believe anyone who doesn’t understand the implications of this crime is a racist.

My 19 year old son in college is Trayvon Martin

This situation is so severe..and upsetting. If nothing is done this would mean that anyone afraid has the right to extinguish someone who is different then themselves. If this was a child of another race there would have been an immediate investigation. Especially once the 911 call was released telling George Zimmerman NOT TO FOLLOW this kid. The fact that George continued to follow Trayvon goes towards intent.

What kind of country is it that a person who pours flour on Kim Kardashian gets arrested and investigated but a black child can be shot and killed and perpetrator gets a pat on the back.

Black males are not allowed to wear hoodies? Why not?

The shooting death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin occurred February 26th, but his story has been dominating headlines for the past week, catching the attention of political figures and celebrities alike. Irish singer Sinead O’Connor took to her blog to passionately speak out about the teenager’s untimely death. No U Ain’t Radio definitely respects Sinead for “tellin it like it is…not like it was.”

I Don’t Get It.. where’s the problem?

February 26th, 2012 / No Comments » / by LadySway

I went to see this Movie on the opening weekend in East Hampton while visiting. As a 45 year old black woman and the only black in this small theater I must say, I was somewhat uncomfortable. Why? You ask. Well as our media for centuries has always put Black America in a negative light, the last place I wanted to see my people being shown as uneducated and uninspired is in a room full of whites.

But as the movie began to revealed itself I began to have a great sense of pride. Whether people (black) want to admit it or not this is our past. The first thing that came to mind was a statement my now almost 90 year old mother said back when I was a teen. She was talking about segregation and her mother working as a maid to put she and her siblings through boarding school. My mother said my Grandmother raised a lot of white children and had to send her own to boarding school. Which my Aunt resented and who could blame her.

The statement in this conversation that always stayed with me was ” white people are funny.” I asked ” how do you mean.” She replied ” They didn’t want to break bread with us, but willing to give us their prized possessions.. Their Children” I remember thinking what a backwards way of thinking.

With that thought any feeling of inferiority went right out the window. Anyone who is that archaic and backwards thinking is not capable of judging me. But that is my personal experience that connected with this movie.

This Is Just My Opinion..

November 11th, 2011 / No Comments » / by LadySway

Once again, this is just my opinion.. I do realize some of you won’t agree however I am so over the top with all this Politically Correct crap. Here in the last week President Obama, Ashton Kutcher, Eddi and Governor Perry has made some type of gaffe.

Gaffe 1) French President Sarkozy called Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu a liar in a conversation with President Obama caught on an open mic at last week’s G-20 summit.

I Love This Story… The Softer Side Of The Internet

This is a great example of (if used correctly) technology being useful to all.

1. I recall having many conversations with old and young that technology is killing the world. I always leave these conversations feeling as though excuses are being used why not to take time to learn something new. Boy are they missing out.

2. Instead of using technology to out gays Tyler Clementi or spread videos about 14 year Amber Cole caught giving a boy oral sex behind a school. What if she were your, daughter, sister, cousin, mother or aunt?

Occupy Wall Street has gone Global

Occupy Cinncinati

City officials and Occupy Cincinnati protesters both stepped up pressure Wednesday to resolve their dispute over the continued occupation of a downtown park.

Protesters rejected a city proposal to remove their encampment at the park, and city officials turned down a counter-proposal that would have allowed dozens of protesters to remain there.

More than 25 people testified before City Council regarding Occupy, asking council members to allow them to stay in the park without being cited. They were particularly harsh toward Councilwoman Leslie Ghiz and Councilman Chris Bortz, calling them out for their connections to property along the park. Bortz’s family owns Towne Properties and Ghiz’s private law office is near the park. more

Notorious Harvard Law professor, and prolific legal scholar, Lawrence Lessig visited Occupy D.C. on Tuesday to share his thoughts and concerns with a packed crowd at McPherson Square. Although his talk was a short thirty minutes, he touched on numerous matters ranging from government corruption that has left out the voices of 99.95% of the country to his views on the direction of the Occupy movement, and Occupy D.C. Although the professor had some trouble handling the People’s Microphone, one message carried throughout the audience, “[think about] how to reach out … with respect and … talk about the future of America.”…more

Lawrence O’Donnell: Bill Clinton, Lady Gaga Encounter ‘Embarrassing’ (VIDEO)

October 18th, 2011 / No Comments » / by LadySway

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

After watching GaGa’s presentation I found it to be witty and creative. Why does Lawrence O’Donnell who obviously doesn’t have a sense of humor decides we shouldn’t neither. What went on between Bill Clinton and his wife is none of my business. If Hillary has gotten passed the incident why shouldn’t we. Instead of O’Donnell focusing on all the good Bill Clinton has done as President and Post-Presidency he chooses to create anger and hostility. How can that be good for America, once again no support or unity.

What are your views on this… Beat Down in a NY McDonalds

October 17th, 2011 / No Comments » / by LadySway

I believe the employee went way overboard, I understand defending yourself but this was nothing other than a beat down. However had the two ladies or should I say women had not jumped the counter we wouldn’t be having this conversation. What are your thoughts?

I Usually Don’t Participate In Rumor and Innuendos…

October 13th, 2011 / No Comments » / by LadySway

I am so over the top with the Beyonce’s questionable pregnancy. I get that the video below shows her stomach shaping in awkward positions. However so what!! Why does everyone seem to care so much as if they all have some personal relationship with this child. First of all as a fan of Jay-Z and admiration for Beyonce’s business sense, entertainment value and writing skills I don’t see neither of them setting themselves up for public humiliation. Secondly why would 2 of the most talented people of our generation want to adopt someone else’s gene pool when they could pass down their genius to their own blood line.

Now let’s discuss Wendy Williams and her opinions. As a 45 year old woman I know that opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. I must say that Wendy Williams and her followers are sad. Wendy Williams has made a luke warm career in hating on others success and I include her followers because with out them she would get any air play for her obnoxious behavior.

Instead of Wendy worrying about Beyonce’s pregnancy ( which I might add can buy and sell Wendy and her thug ass man) she should focus on her own mess. Kevin Hunter (Wendy’s “husband”) is the same guy who was sexually harrassing interns at WBLS right?

Let’s look back on his career shall we:

Wendy’s Husband Hires Hitman to Hit Miss Jones

OK so you get the point. How dare a person constantly look to expose or judge others when your life partner choice is this Neanderthal. I have had the “PLEASURE” of meeting both of them twice. Remember I am an Event Coordinator in NYC and I must say I got the feeling that all the fabulous-ness she tries to put out there is fake. These two are the Ghetto-est couple I’ve met in a long time. Oh and by the way unlike Jay-Z and Beyonce I don’t know what the hell Kevin does other than ride Wendy’s coat tail and rape her bank account.

Twice our organization held an event featuring Wendy Williams, the last time was early this year and for all her followers that came to support her she allowed Kevin to disrepect them. It was time for Q & A when Kevin decided her fans didn’t have the right to ask for a leg up in their carreers, information on how to make their dreams come true. He in the middle of everything he began shouting “we didn’t come here the this shit” and had her come off the stage and leave.

Keep in mind this same organization has had everyone from Kimora Lee, Jermaine Dupris to Ariana Huffington and all have been grateful for their fans. But not Wendy she only cares about drama and casting negative light on all who work hard and create something of their own. Anybody can spread the word or gossip.

I’m not sure why she has a following because as I see it she has nothing to teach. She’s made a career off the backs of those who contribute, have talent and successful.

She couldn't get 200 attendees - walked off stage, refused to sign books or take pictures. She set that up before the event, so to all those who purchased her book she said to hell with you.

I believe that she should be sued to her attitude because I’ve seen it first hand.
